The mandate of the Bancroft and District Chamber of Commerce is to promote and develop Bancroft & District as a place to live, work and play. The Chamber exists to enrich the quality of the economic and civil well being of its membership, business at large and the community as a whole. Both residents and visitors can take time to peacefully reflect and connect with nature or experience something exciting and awe inspiring.

Bancroft and District offers fishing, boating, golfing, hiking ATVing, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. This area is home to many artists and artisans; offers live theatre and rare shopping opportunities to delight and entertain. There are scenic drives, mineral collecting sites and field trips and many community events.

Barry Devolin, Member of Parliament

Barry Devolin was elected as the Member of Parliament for the federal riding of Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock in June 2004 and re-elected in January 2006 and October 2008.

After being elected to Parliament Devolin created a non-partisan Farm Council in his riding to advise and inform him on agricultural issues. He also launched “The Capital Experience“, a program that takes one or two students from each of the area’s seven high schools to Ottawa for three days to learn about career opportunities in public life.

Following his reelection in the 2008 election, he was named assistant deputy chairman of the Committees of the Whole, which makes him one of three presiding officers who may take over for the Speaker in the event of his absence.

Community Care Haliburton County

Community Care Haliburton County provides services to seniors (55+) and adults (18+) with disabilities and or illness and their caregivers. Services are coordinated by staff and implemented by dedicated volunteers. All services are provided to enable persons to remain living independently at their place of residence for as long as they choose to be there. Services include: Emergency Response System, Transportation, Meals on Wheels, Home at Last, Diners Club, Telephone Security Checks, Home Help and Home Maintenance, Social Recreation and Friendly visiting.

Community Care Haliburton County has celebrated giving service for the past 30 years, beginning in 1980. We have over 120 volunteers who maintain the strength of our agency on a daily basis.

About 12,000 people belong to the Community Living Ontario through their membership in more than 100 affiliated local associations. Many have a son, daughter, brother or sister who is identified as having an intellectual disability. People who themselves have been labelled are members. Church, business and other community leaders also belong.

We all belong to Community Living Ontario for one reason — we support the full inclusion of people who are identified as having an intellectual disability in all aspects of community living.

Driver's Edge Driver Training

I have been a licenced instructor in Ontario since 1983 and The Driver’s Edge has been serving Haliburton and area since 1996. The Driver’s Edge is an MTO-Approved Beginner Driver Education Program Provider. We offer full certificate courses (for insurance and G-2 time reduction purposes) as well as individual lessons for new drivers or experienced drivers who wish to brush up on their skills. All ages welcome. The driving school car is fully insured with dual controls and is available to qualified students for their G-2 test.

The Driver’s Edge has recently become a CAA Approved Driving School. Graduates of the CAA “How to Drive” program will also receive a free 12 month Basic CAA Membershp.
