Chamber seeking to fill Maternity leave Contract Position

The Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce, Haliburton County’s leading business associations with over 350 members, has a opening for a Chamber Manager fulfilling a Contract Maternity Term commencing November 15, 2010.

Reporting to the Board of Directors through the Chairman of the Board, the Chamber Manager leads the organization in its mission to provide meaningful support for local business in the Haliburton Highlands area. The Chamber Manager provides leadership and direction for all Chamber activities. He/she prepares and executes a strategic business plan and an annual business plan and has responsibility for all functions, including operations, finance, human resource and business development.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a genuine interest in the mission of the Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce.

Responsibilities:

· Implement policy and programs established by the Board

· Manage operations and membership services

· Motivate, direct and supervise staff

· Prepare budgets and financial analysis as per policy

· Marketing to retain and expand Chamber membership

· Liaison with staff, Chamber members, other Chambers, volunteers, media, government, public and private organizations

· Support all committees Executive, Advocacy, Events, Gala and more.

· Ensure all information is effectively passed to the Board and Members

· Travel as needed for business functions within Ontario

Requirement:

Superior communication skills in English
Solid background in financial management and operations
Proven ability to work with a wide array of diverse stakeholders
Strong track record of leadership and management
A degree in Administration, Business, is an asset; or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years’ in a senior management is an asset
Experience in economic or community development is an asset
Experience in Non-profit associations would be an asset

You have a passion for working with people and business, have proven leadership and are adept at developing and executing strategic plans to improve results. A self-confident leader with strong interpersonal skills, you have a talent for developing effective teams and achieving positive results.

Office Administrator – Ontario Senior Games

Ontario Senior Games – Winterfest 2011

The Ontario Senior Games – Winterfest 2011 Games Organizing Committee is seeking an Office Administrator to provide support to the General Manager and the Chairperson of the Games Organizing Committee.
This is a 6 month Youth Intern position funded by the Eastern Ontario Development Program through the Haliburton County Development Corporation. The successful applicant will be a recent post secondary graduate under the age of 30. Preference will be given to those with a post secondary diploma in sports administration or special events management, demonstrated working knowledge of MS Office software and volunteer recruitment and development experience. French language skills (oral and written) will be considered an asset.

This position is located at the Winter Games Administration Offices at 739 Mountain Street in the Village of Haliburton. The rate of $17.65 per hour is based on a flexible forty hour work week including some evening and weekend work as required.

The intern will be responsible for developing material, and a marketing plan to be used by Point in Time and Community Living Haliburton County for the purpose of marketing the supports and services offered by these two agencies. The project will result in an increased community knowledge and use of information. This position is 35hrs per week for 33 weeks. Qualifications:
