Camp Cook – Camp Diamond

Camp Diamond, in the Highland Grove area, is a multi-faceted summer camp that offers Day & Residential Family camps, a Girls-only camp programme and Language camps and is looking for a Camp Cook for the coming 2010 season.

Qualifications include:

  • Previous camp experience an asset.
  • Current First Aid & CPR an asset (Training will be provided.)
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in the food industry.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Food Safety Certificate required.
  • Prior experience cooking for groups of 40+.
  • Excellent management & communication skills.

Employment Dates: June 15th – September 15th, 2010
(may be option for earlier start due to group rentals)

Salary Range: $300-$550 per week
(plus room & board, one day off per week)

Monarch Bible Camp – Summer 2010 Job Positions

Monarch Bible Camp is a non profit, Christian organization. All jobs listed are paid positions and require some fund raising. Some positions are supported by government grants and are eligible for students in school (high school, college or university) and returning to school in the Fall. Police Checks and references are required. Training is provided.

Positions:

Waterfront Director

  • be responsible for safety in and around waterfront
  • teach swim lessons
  • guard and supervise free swim time
  • take charge of waterfront – organizing buddies, explaining safety rules and ensuring they are followed, conduct buddy checks, scheduling lifeguards
  • assist or lead canoes
  • research and plan waterfront games – regattas, beach games, canoe challenges, etc
  • supervise campers and partake in all areas of camp
  • be a resource and aid to younger staff and be a positive role model

Senior Counsellor

  • be a resource and assistant to younger staff
  • help supervise younger staff in performing their jobs – evaluate job performance and find ways to help staff develop skills and confidence
  • take a leadership role with campers
  • lead in discipline areas with campers
  • supervise campers and partake in all areas of camp
  • be a resource and aid to younger staff and be a positive role model
  • include younger staff in planning and assist in their development
  • to take charge of a group of campers and help them feel welcome and cared for
  • to lead different activities depending on skills and experience – archery, mountain biking, canoeing, etc. and to be continually aware of safety needs

Drama Director

  • to be responsible for running the Drama Activity and drama as entertainment
  • research and prepare materials for leading Drama as an activity
  • plan theatrical arts skill development
  • have a repertoire of materials to use with campers and be prepared to personalize skits with campers
  • prepare staff skits for fun and teaching
  • prepare costumes and props as needed
  • work with Program Director to prepare skits and dramas for camp fire
  • create drama related games like “props”, create a story, dramatized stories, etc.
  • be responsible to care for props and costumes – cleaning, organizing, looking for new items to add
  • supervise campers and partake in all areas of camp

Music Director

  • to be responsible for music at camp – as a tool for learning and for fun
  • organize and prepare camp songs for fun and for worship
  • prepare song sheets, posters, over heads, etc for use with campers
  • prepare music CD or arrange for instruments to accompany singing
  • teach songs to staff during training so they are prepared for camp
  • lead singing in fun and creative ways to inspire campers to join in
  • teach songs and actions to campers
  • come up with creative ways to include campers
  • prepare songs for campfire
  • prepare musical instruments and props to encourage interaction – rhythm sticks, bongo drums, shakers, etc.
  • supervise campers and partake in all areas of camp

Camp Counsellors

  • to be responsible for the supervision and safety of campers and to make camp fun for them
  • to take charge of a group of campers and help them feel welcome and cared for
  • to lead different activities depending on skills and experience – archery, mountain biking, canoeing, etc. and to be continually aware of safety needs
  • to be aware of where the group of campers are at all times
  • participate in games, activities, meals, etc alongside campers
  • to help teach character building skills
  • participate in teaching through skits, stories and direct teaching
  • interact with campers throughout the day and in cabins at night at resident camp
  • to encourage and build up fellow staff
  • help in all areas of camp including set up and tear down, meal prep, clean up, etc.
