SUSTAINABLE BUILDING DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGIST – SITE/PROJECT LEAD

Reason for Posting: Temporary Position

Reporting to the Principal, Haliburton Campus, the Technologist – Site/Project Lead will provide overall coordination for the onsite building component of the Sustainable Building Design & Construction certificate program. The incumbent, in collaboration with the Program Coordinator, will be responsible for ensuring the program’s building project moves forward on time, on budget and to the specifications of the approved design. The Technologist – Site/Project Lead will be responsible for the onsite coordination of all sub-trades, building materials, rental equipment and College tools/equipment during the building project. The incumbent will possess a solid understanding and appreciation of sustainable building techniques, systems and materials. This position involves close interaction with students requiring excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with effective team-building skills within a classroom environment.

This role will work with the Program Coordinator to schedule the appropriate faculty at the appropriate time in order to maintain the project schedule. The incumbent will support all faculty teaching and may often be the first point of contact for students in resolving questions regarding previously introduced theory or concepts and problem solving.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Relevant combination of education and recent experience as a construction general contractor
- Project management experience within the construction industry including job site supervision
- An understanding and appreciation of sustainable building materials, systems and techniques
- Demonstrated skills and experience in developing and managing project budgets
- Ability to oversee, coordinate and lead construction work within a learning environment
- Ability to work and make decisions independently as well as demonstrate a high level of initiative
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and conceptualization skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills, time management skills and the ability to multi-task effectively
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and team-building
- Proficient in the use of computer software (i.e. spreadsheets).
- Must be able to guide, lead, and motivate students as well as work as an effective team player
