Haliburton winery wins gold in world contest
Haliburton Echo – November 17th, 2009
Last week Moon Shadows Estates took a twirl in the spotlight when its popular Black Currant table wine captured the gold medal in the prestigious InterVin International Wine Awards. The wine won in the fruit/dessert wine category. (Moon Shadows also sells dessert wines, but this particular Black Currant vintage is a table wine.)
Moon Shadows Estates Winery owners Eric and Carol Thompson were pleasantly surprised when they were notified last week.
“We’re pretty happy,” said Carol.
“There were over 750 different wines from around the world, and there were only 26 gold medal winners,” said Eric. “We were in fruit and dessert wines category, and looking down the list of winners we were the only non-grape wine to get a gold.”
