The Haliburton Highlands boasts a wide array of charities, non profits, groups and clubs; many of which are dependent on the commitment, trust, and support delivered by their volunteers. Volunteering benefits the duality of those who are served by it and those who are involved in it.
To those of you who Volunteer in the Haliburton Highlands ~ Thank You! _________________________________________________________________________________________
Food Crusade
Traditionally in November, area food banks see a large increase in the number of people needing help.
It is also one of the slowest months for donations.
•Almost 1000 people are registered with area food banks
•Approximately 40% are children
•November is a traditionally slow time for donations but see an increase in the need by residents (Minden saw a 39% increase in November 2011 vs October 2011)
•Current economic conditions (especially in the tourism industry) translate into a tough winter for a lot of people – People from all walks of life NEED YOUR HELP!
