The Haliburton Highlands boasts a wide array of charities, non profits, groups and clubs, many of which are dependant on the commitment, trust, and support delivered by their volunteers.
There is a duality in the nature of volunteering. It benefits both those who are served by it and those who are involved in it. Volunteering contributes billions of dollars worth of work each year in Canada to individuals, communities, and organizations. The nonprofit sector contributes over $80 billion/ year to the Canadian economy — five times more than either motor vehicle manufacturing or agriculture and over three times more than accommodation and food services combined.
